How To Rotate the 3D View Without a Middle Mouse Button in Carveco

Overview

In Carveco, rotating the 3D view is commonly done with a middle mouse button. But if your mouse doesn’t have one, there are alternative ways to rotate the model and inspect toolpaths from any angle. This tutorial explains how to use keyboard shortcuts or enable Twiddle View mode.

Method 1: Use the Space Bar Shortcut

  1. Left-click and hold anywhere in the 3D view.
  2. While holding the click, press and hold the Spacebar.
  3. Move your mouse to rotate the view around your model.
Tip: This is the fastest way to rotate without interrupting your workflow. Release the spacebar to return to normal selection mode.

Method 2: Use Twiddle View Mode

  1. Go to the View dropdown menu.
  2. Select Twiddle View.
  3. Now simply left-click and drag to rotate the view.

This method locks the interface into a rotation mode until manually turned off.

How to Exit Twiddle View

  1. Either go back to View → Twiddle View to toggle it off,
  2. Or simply press the Escape key on your keyboard.

Once Twiddle View is off, you'll return to the standard selection and editing mode.

Summary:
If your mouse lacks a middle button, use Left-click + Spacebar to rotate the 3D view fluidly. Alternatively, enable Twiddle View from the menu and use the Escape key to exit. Both methods offer full control over your 3D perspective.
