Carveco Tutorial: Relief Clipart Library

The Relief Clipart Library in Carveco gives you quick access to hundreds of ready-made 3D elements. You can easily browse, search, place, and manipulate clipart to build detailed relief compositions for machining.

🔹 Opening the Clipart Library

  1. Click the folder icon with a yellow star to open the Relief Clipart Library.
  2. Choose a category (e.g., Animals, Greenery, Shields) from the dropdown menu.
  3. If the library isn't installed, follow the prompt to download it from the Carveco website.

🔹 Browsing & Importing Clipart

  • Use the search bar to filter clipart (e.g., search "eagle").
  • Click to place a relief into your model or drag-and-drop it to a specific location.
  • Use F9 to center the clipart on your model.

🔹 Resizing & Arranging Reliefs

  • Select the relief and use the Transform tool (or press T) to resize and position it.
  • Hold Alt while dragging corners to scale from the center.
  • Use the padlock to lock aspect ratio during resizing.

🔹 Pasting Clipart

You can combine multiple clipart pieces before pasting them into the relief layer. When pasting:

  • Add: Stacks height values (good for flat bases).
  • Merge High: Preserves underlying shape while blending new relief.
  • Replace: Cuts the underlying relief and replaces it with the new shape.

🔹 Useful Tips

  • Use Paste Outline Vector to extract boundary shapes from clipart.
  • Use Mirror to duplicate clipart symmetrically across a model.
  • Use the My Reliefs folder to organize your personal clipart and custom models.

💡 Tip

When pasting onto raised reliefs (like wings or shields), use Merge High or Replace to avoid unwanted stacking and preserve clean detail.

✔️ Key Takeaways

  • Use the Relief Clipart Library for quick design elements.
  • Drag or click to import reliefs, then resize and position with the Transform tool.
  • Experiment with Paste Modes (Add, Merge High, Replace) to control how clipart interacts.
  • Clipart can be mirrored, outlined, and layered to create complex designs.
