Carveco Tutorial: Inverting Reliefs (Create Molds)

Inverting reliefs in Carveco is a quick way to create mold designs. This process allows you to convert raised reliefs (male parts) into sunken impressions (female parts), or generate both versions for full mold making.

🔹 Converting a Relief into a Mold

  1. Start with a relief already placed in your model (e.g., a Pegasus).
  2. Use the Invert Relief in Z Only tool.
  3. This flips the height direction, pushing the relief down into the model to create a female mold impression.

🔹 Creating a True Mold (Male & Female)

  1. Undo the basic inversion if already applied.
  2. Click the drop-down beside the Invert Relief icon and select Invert Relief - Male and Female.
  3. This flips the relief horizontally and vertically, generating a perfect counterpart for mold use.

💡 Tip

Use Invert Relief in Z Only when you just want a recessed version of a model. Use Male and Female inversion when preparing full mold halves for casting or pressing operations.

✔️ Key Takeaways

  • Use Invert Relief in Z Only for simple recessed molds.
  • Use Invert Relief - Male and Female for full mold creation.
  • Always preview and simulate after inversion to verify geometry.
