Carveco Tutorial: Trimming Reliefs to Vectors
In this tutorial, you'll learn how to trim a relief to a vector in Carveco. This is useful when you want to isolate a specific part of your relief or remove unwanted areas, such as trimming off the wings from a Pegasus model.
✂️ Trimming Using a Simple Vector
- Create or import your relief and draw a closed vector (e.g., a rectangle).
- Switch to a plan view for better accuracy.
- Select the vector.
- Go to Relief > Edit, then choose either:
- Zero Inside the Vector – Keeps what's outside the vector, removes the inside.
- Zero Outside the Vector – Keeps what's inside the vector, removes the outside.
🧩 Trimming Complex Shapes
To isolate complex areas like just the wings of a Pegasus:
- Draw a custom closed vector that outlines the part you want to isolate or remove.
- Use the Polyline Tool and zoom as needed for accuracy.
- Make sure the vector is fully closed.
- Go to Relief > Edit and select your desired option:
- Zero Inside to remove the selected part.
- Zero Outside to preserve the selected part and remove everything else.
💡 Tip
Use the Minus (-) key during polyline creation to step back one point if you make a mistake.
✔️ Key Takeaways
- You must use a closed vector to trim a relief.
- Use Zero Inside or Zero Outside to isolate or remove relief areas.
