You can download tool libraries or tool databases from different manufacturers and then import them into your Tool Database within any Carveco product. After doing so, the included tools can be selected when creating a toolpath in your Carveco product, eliminating the need to manually specify tool dimensions and resulting in substantial time savings.
Note
You can only import a Tool Library or Tool Database saved in .tdb format.

To import a Tool Database into your Carveco software:
- Start your Carveco software.
- Create a new model or open an existing model.
- In the Project panel, select the tree's Toolpaths item. Its associated tools are displayed below the Project panel's splitter bar.
- Click the Tool Database button included in the Toolpath Operations area shown below the Project panel's splitter bar.
The Tool Database dialog is displayed.
- Click Import. The Import Tool Database dialog is displayed.
- Browse to the downloaded Tool Database file (*.tdb) that you want to import into your Tool Database. For example, Amana-2023-08-31.tdb.
- Click Open. The Import Tool Database dialog closes and the contents of the selected Tool Database file (*.tdb) are imported into your Tool Database and listed in the Tool Database dialog's Tools and Groups window.
- Click OK. The Tool Database dialog closes.
Comments
Whiteside tools does not provide a .tdb file for their bits. They do have .tool files for download from other tool manufacturers. I have contacted whiteside tools to see if they can put together a .tdb file for download. Dead in the water until this is handled.
I meant to say they have .tool files for other software manufacturers (fusion 360, vectric)
This is the same db which is already implemented in Maker. I am talking about Sain Smart bits Would be good to extend eg. surfacing spoilboard bits. Thanks in Advance.
Two questions on this same subject:
1. Is there any way to sort the Tool Data base?
2. Is the Tool Database a CSV file - if so can we get the format?

To answer each of your questions:
1. While it is not possible to re-order the content within the Tool Database, you can edit, delete and copy included items.
2. The Tool Database used within all Carveco software products is a proprietary .tdb file, which is stored in C:\Program Files\Carveco\Exec\ and C:\Users\\Documents\Carveco\Tool Database\ by default on your computer. You cannot import CSV files into the Tool Database.
Please consider adding the ability to sort the tool database. It would be a nice feature.
Is there any way of putting the Carveco tool database back to the original condition as supplied without deleting the Carveco software and doing a full reinstall?
I have contacted Sainsmart Support but they were of no help. Do you have, or know where I can download a tool database (.tdb) file for the RR20A Burr Bit set from Sainsmart?

I'm trying to enter a 90-degree v-bit. I copied a similar v-bit tool and tried to change its parameters. I need to enter the flute height (C), but it is not editable, and I need to understand why. How can I gain this info?

Kenny, If you input diameter (D) and included angle the Flute length is automatically inserted.
Martyn, thanks. That info was helpful. What I don't understand is the fact that the diameter (D) was set correctly for the bit but the flute height (C) needs to change to match my bit. Even if the manufacturer provides info, if I cannot change (C) when (D) equals what it equals, then I'm missing something in understanding. Can someone help me?
It’s a mathematical calculation so something your inputting can’t be right. I checked on my CAD and it measures correctly. Post a picture of the cutter plus dimensions and I will put into mine.
Okay, I was confusing the width of the shaft with the width of the head of the v-bit. Sorry, my newbie mistake. Thanks for your patience.
