Error: “The system cannot find the path specified” When Saving a Toolpath

Summary

If you're seeing the message “The system cannot find the path specified” when trying to save a toolpath in your Carveco software, this usually means the software is trying to save to a folder or location that no longer exists or is currently unavailable.

This issue can occur in Carveco Maker, Carveco Maker Plus, and Carveco (Pro).

Why Am I Seeing This Error?

When you save a toolpath in Carveco, the software remembers the last location you saved to. If that location is no longer available — for example:

  • The folder was deleted or renamed
  • It was on a USB stick or external drive that is no longer connected
  • It was on a network drive that is currently unreachable

…then the software cannot complete the save, resulting in this error.

This is Windows' way of saying: “I can’t find the folder I’m supposed to use.”

How To Fix the Error

There are two simple ways to resolve this:

Option 1: Let Carveco Create the Folder Again

If the folder still exists on a connected drive, Carveco may offer to recreate it. Clicking Yes will re-establish the location and allow you to save.

Option 2: Choose a New Save Location Manually

(See image below for reference)

  1. In the Save Toolpath dialog, click the Browse (1) button (next to the File name field).
  2. Navigate to a known location on your PC (e.g., your Desktop or Documents folder).
  3. Choose a folder or create a new one.
  4. Click Save.

Alternatively, you can manually paste a valid path into the "Save in" (2) field. For example:

C:\Users\YourName\Desktop\Toolpath-Exports
