Carveco Tutorial: Grouping Vectors

Grouping vectors in Carveco allows you to manage multiple objects as a single unit. This simplifies selection, editing, and organization—especially in complex designs.

🔹 Step 1: Grouping Vectors

  • Select the first object, then hold Shift and click additional objects.
  • Click the Group icon on the left-hand toolbar.
  • Grouped objects appear with a purple highlight when selected.
  • Shortcut: Press Ctrl + G to group selected objects.

🔹 Step 2: Ungrouping Vectors

  • Select the grouped objects.
  • Hold down the group button on the left to reveal the Ungroup option from the flyout menu.
  • Shortcut: Press Ctrl + U to ungroup.

🔹 Step 3: Using Right-Click Options

  • Right-click a group to access grouping options.
  • You’ll see:
    • Ungroup Vectors – breaks one level of grouping.
    • Ungroup All – completely flattens nested groups into individual vectors.

🔹 Step 4: Working with Nested Groups

  • You can create a group within a group (e.g., group A and B, then group with C).
  • Ungroup Vectors will only break the top-level group.
  • Ungroup All is ideal for completely ungrouping everything back to individual elements.

🔹 Bonus: Selection Tips

  • Grouped items must be fully enclosed by the selection box to be selected.
  • Partial selection will not select part of a group.
  • This helps avoid unintentional edits or selections.

Grouping vectors keeps your workspace organized and efficient—especially when working with layered designs or repeating patterns.
