Why do I keep having to activate the software every time I restart it?

Whilst we are migrating people from the original license key activation method to the new Carveco Account login method we sometimes encounter problems on some installations. This is more likely if you have had more than one license, or switched between a Carveco Account (login) license and legacy (license key) license on the same computer.

When this problem occurs you are forced to enter the legacy license key every time you restart the software. This can happen if you have tried to activate your software using a Carveco Account login and then decided to revert back to the legacy license key activation method.

Solution

You will eventually need to move to the Carveco Account login method, but if you need to get back up and running quickly with your existing license key then please do the following to prevent these repeated activation requests:

  1. Shut down all instances of Carveco.
  2. Open File Explorer and navigate to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Carveco (you can copy that into the address bar of a Windows file explorer window and hit Enter)
  3. Delete both the user.db and lease.json files
  4. Restart Carveco.
