Online services
Artificial Intelligence has been researched for decades, but it is only in the last few years, with dedicated hardware, specialised AI models for particular tasks and large training datasets that is has become useful in a wide variety of tasks. We use AI models suitable for commercial use to produce images from text and 3D reliefs from images.

However, most personal computers do not have the dedicated hardware and memory to run these models quickly, or even at all. So we also supply online services to run these AI models on dedicated hardware for you. This requires secure connections from the software to the services and secure temporary storage for processing the text or image you supply into the final result. Whenever you click Generate with Text or Generate Relief we communicate with those online services via secure channels to run the approriate AI model on dedicated hardware. The results are stored temporarily and sent back to you over the same secure channel and results are displayed in the software. The results are deleted later during cleanup.

Updates to the Terms
To get ready for the release of our new AI tools and service, we’ve also made a few updates to our End User Licence Agreement (supplied with the software), Software Terms & Conditions, and our List of Sub-Processors. You will have already been sent an email to update you on the changes and these changes were also reflected in the EULA when you installed the software. This ensures that the rights over your models remain yours and your responsibility.

What’s changing?
  • AI Tools
For years, anything you create in Carveco has always been yours and your responsibility. This included ensuring you have appropriate permissions for any trademarks or content in your designs.

With AI-created designs, we made this responsibility explicit. AI, although very good, is simply another tool to help you produce designs, and you remain responsible for those designs, as before.
  • Commercial use
While we use AI models suitable for commercial use, we cannot guarantee their output will be unique, trademark-free, or appropriate for all uses. This is why you must be 18 or above to use or supervise this tool. As has always been the case, you must determine whether a design is suitable for its intended purpose before use.

In essence, you - not the AI tool - are responsible for any design.
  • Data storage
With the addition of online services for processing we made it clear that we do not offer cloud storage services. Your data is only stored as long as necessary for the tool and related services to function, so you should ensure your work is backed up, as has always been the case.
  • Sub-processors: To help power our new AI features, we’ve added new sub-processors that are used in conjunction with the AI tool in the software.

If you want more information you can see our Software Terms & Conditions, our Privacy PolicyList of Sub-Processors and the EULA displayed when you install the software.

We hope you enjoy using these new tools as much as we have making them!
