Is more than one roughing pass possible?

I am using Maker, is it possible to have more than one roughing pass? When I try to create a roughing pass for a 1/4" end mill and then create a roughing pass for an 1/8" end mill, the 1/8" end mill pass still tries to remove the material the 1/4" end mill has previously removed.

  • Hi Monte Moore,

Please confirm exactly what type of toolpath you're intending to create in Carveco Maker. For example, Area Clearance or Machine Relief.

Thanks for your time and cooperation.

  • I am having the same issue.  I am using a v-bit carving toolpath and would like to make multiple passes with the roughing tool.  I am using a 2mm roughing bit due to the narrow path I am cutting and can't cut to final depth without the risk of breaking the tool.  any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Brad Killam,

You can control the number of machining passes through the Stepdown value specified for your chosen Roughing Tool when creating your V-Bit Carving toolpath.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

  • Hi Monte Moore,

You cannot use rest machining in Carveco Maker.

Please upload your Carveco Model file (*.art) using the free WeTransfer service and then share the generated link when replying here. We can then check your toolpath settings.

Thanks again for your time and cooperation.

  • Hi Monte Moore,

    What is rest machining?

Rest machining is a toolpath used to machine the material left behind from a previous cutting tool.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

  • So rest machining is not possible in Carveco? Both 2d and 3d?

  • I really don't know, I have and use the Pro side of things, so I know it's there for me, but above support wrote this.
