machine file format help

I can not seem to find anything compatible to generate a working Gcode for my equipment. I have tried several none seem to come out working.

I have a hobby 3018 sainsmart that runs on GBRL controller currently running Candle. The closest I got was an NC format but it took a 5x7 inch work piece and milled a box approx. 1/4 square and that was it

  • Hi John Greeley,

Please watch the following demonstration video available from our Carveco Training portal: Saving Your Toolpaths

If you're working in imperial units and using:

    • Candle as your machine controller, when saving your calculated toolpaths from Carveco Maker, select the Sainsmart 3018 PROver (inch) (*.tap) post processor option from the Save Toolpaths dialog's Machine file format list.
    • Universal Gcode Sender as your machine controller, when saving your calculated toolpaths from Carveco Maker, select the UGS GRBL (inch) (*.gcode) post processor option from the Save Toolpaths dialog's Machine file format list.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

  • Is there a way to add the SainSmart 4040-PRO to the g-code drop-down list when saving toolpath files?

  • Hi Trevor Johnson,

We intend to include Sainsmart 4040-PRO (inch) (*.tap), Sainsmart 4040-PRO with Probe (inch) (*.tap), Sainsmart 4040-PRO (mm) (*.tap) and Sainsmart 4040-PRO with Probe (mm) (*.tap) post processor options in the Save Toolpaths dialog's Machine file format list as part of the Carveco 1.49 Update.

Thanks in advance for your understanding and patience.
