My Glass

Hi

I work with glass for living and started using this and the former software a few years ago to model for the panels I make. Thought I would share one I made with this new software, Had a request for some windows with groups of Sgt Major fish, When I make models for this type of work I generally exaggerate the detail a little bit for better impressions and because I cannot get the glass as hot as I would like when I have to laminate for building code.

  • Very cool. How are you translating the image of the fish to the glass? Are you milling a positive and then making a mold(s)? Its nice to see AC/Carveco being used for something other than signs and jewellery. Thanks for posting the pics.

  • Hi Barry

Yes a mill a positive. To make the glass I use large format kilns that I built 50" x 100" I have a refractory sand that I use to sculpt and impress the positive image, somewhat like foundry metal casting. I bit cruder than lost wax but works nice for flat work. The attached show what I did before AC/Carveco used to hand make all my models.
