Mike,
Fyi, for me I use a tolerance in my toolpaths of .001 you use one of .01, I don't know if that would help improve your situation but you could give it a try.
mike
Thank you. I am very new to this and any suggestions are well accepted and appreciated. I will give it a try
Mike
Mike,
If you can afford the space always use the smallest tolerances, the smaller the point is the closer the bit will follow the line. Have you tried the toolpaths again yet? Is it better?

Thanks again for the tip. I am using a Chinese machine " Lead CNC Bulk Man 3D" I am not sure what post processor to use . So far I am using Mach3_4(inch) *.tap. Any suggestions ?
Mike
Man is that thing hard to get info on today, my internet must be screwy. I found that they use Mach 3. I don't know anything of that because I use an old Technoisel RG, it's still running great, I have been looking at another router (though I am getting past the time I should retire, imaging huge grin, may just side step away) possibly a shop saber, I like their design, I am not into Mach too many things to remember, as in most stuff you keep it simple you will be successful, if you add too many things confusion will rule and no work will result. ((like I said I know nothing of Mach 3))
Mike
To make it even harder my machine uses USB to talk to the controller. If it were a parallel port it would do most of the set up automatically
Picture Charley Brown lifting both hands and screaming (that would be me). Yup, I understand another way for a problem to enter. Time to contact the company who sold the router and get some help, if you can.
You might have a stepper motor slightly disconnected, I bought a used pos. and it had problems galore and one of axis had a line that would not connect correctly (ended up getting rid of it, I couldn't handle anything that would not produce for me).
Gary used to be around he used to be able to set folk on the right path with mach 3 and these Chinese things, he was pretty cool always respected the man for his skills and courtesy.
mike
By the way have you cut out anything before? and if you did how did it come out?
mike
Mike I am just getting this thing up and running. So no I have not
As you mentioned earlier. This is a Chinese machine . I do not speak Chinese so getting answers from them is out of the question. This is a mistake that I will not ever make again. If you are familiar with the tv show star trek these Chinese are like Firangi.

Mike I contacted Mach3 support and was told that
"
Hello,
You're missing steps on your axis tuning.
Best Regards,
Trevor"
Did they give you any help as far as setting Mach 3 up? If you are missing steps, What is he talking about, in the set-up. Did he point out to you where to fix it, to add steps??????? or did he leave you just hanging?
Do you have any set-up manual? If you do get that begger out and go over it.
mike
I am so tired of going over that manual. It is like groundhog day
I did everything that they told me. Re tuning the motors as suggested. The machine runs smoother but I still have oblong circles. It is odd because I cut out a heart and it was perfect. I would think that the heart would have been skewed as well. I'll keep you posted

One next thing, a couple years, maybe last year (time bro, time) ago my router blew me away was cutting a 4 ft section of pine had some nice work on it had 15 of those nasty s to do on number 4 my router wasn't cutting right, I was saying all SORTS of words, after 2 days or so of blaming carveco I found it was a belt, I've had the router 20 years or so and it has many miles on it, things ware out, it needed maintenance, and I wasn't smart enough to see it right away............... In other words how good is your connection between your stepper motor and your ball screws or the gear that's connected to your table (don't know how yours is set up). something could be loose.
mike
I use a 24000 80mm spindle wired directly to the VFD (No belts).
Steppers are wired directly into the controller.
I would think pretty stable connections
steppers have to transmit the rotation to a drive to allow the router to move the spindle to different points to cut, MECHANICALLY not electronically or or digitally, like in a truck you have to get the tiers to rotate so we have a motor a transmission a rear-end with gears to an axel, look at the mechanical connections, you could have one of your axis' not secure, loose and you are missing steps the steppers could be slipping in the .,.,.,.,.,..,.,..,.,.,.,.,.,
