Trouble with V carve toolpath after last update.

I just recently started having problems with my v carve toolpaths.  When I generate a toolpath for text, it has a lot of extra movements that do not follow the center of the lettering, causing a very distorted letter to be carved.  I have used the same font, bit and size of text in many other models with no issues.  I tried everything I can think of, new file, different carving depths, reinstalling Carveco...., nothing works.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • When you do a toolpath do you ever look at the tolerances? I have mine set at .0001 if it's set to .o1 that's kind of big, might be that windows is messing with you if it was set at one time and did good so do a double check on your tolerance that you have when you chose the type of toolpath you want, the tighter the tolerances the closer you'll follow the vector the nicer the cut.

  • Thanks, I was able to find the problem.  I had set a maximum depth of cut that was not deep enough to alloow the width of the letters to be made in one pass so multiple passes at diferent angles were made.  This caused the distorted cuts I was seeing.  All is good now.

  • Funny how one little change can set you into a tizzy isn't it, I've had quit a few of them, I do something then forget all about it, (totally embarrassing) then check everything out before I run it (if I could put an emoji it'd be a total red faced one).

  • I had this same issue where the toolpath basically looked like a drunken attempt to recreate the Sistine Chapel. I checked my settings and the default tolerance was 0.15. I remember seeing that number when I started learning this and just leaving it alone, but that was the issue. My fonts are finally simulating properly. Thanks, Mike.
