V-Bit Carve Issues

I am very new to Carveco Maker. I am trying to v-bit carve the USMC seal for a friend. Most of the lines are working out perfectly. However, I some of the lines do not show up in the carve at all. I am sure I am doing something wrong, but I am not sure what that is. I have placed pictures showing the vectors and the carve. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

  • Hi Zach Farris,

Without access to your Carveco Model file (.art), it is difficult to identify all the potential issues with your vector artwork and it is impossible to check your toolpath settings. Please save and upload your Carveco Model file (.art) using the free WeTransfer service using their Get transfer link option, and then share the generated link when replying here.

In the meantime, the eagle in your vector artwork seems to comprise of single-line open vectors. If this is correct, you cannot create a V-Bit Carving toolpath. This toolpath machines between two vectors. For example, the two concentric circles which are part of the boundary in your design.

Please watch the following demonstration video available from our Carveco Training portal: V-Bit Carving

Thanks for your time and consideration.

  • If the Eagle is not single line then it is overlapping. overlapping line always create errors. Offsetting the vectors in slightly should solve the issue.

  • I apologize. I figured out what the issue was. I came from the trial version of Easel and was trying to use this like Easel. I found out the difference in carving vs profiles. I ended up making some of the items carves and some of them profiles.

The other question I did have is how I change the 3D material from the simulation default to a color? For example, I would like to cut this seal out on a black painted board so the cut lines and carves show up well. However, there does not seem to be a selection to change the color of the material. I can change the depth color but not the material color.

Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Select the "Lights and Material" icon [found in the Model tool menu].

You can pick presets at the top and make adjustment at the bottom.

Unfortunately, it's not possible for you to do as suggested by Mark Weeden. This is because the Lights and Materials settings are only included in our flagship Carveco product; you can compare the different Carveco products on our company website: https://carv.eco/comparison

However, you are able to apply material settings to a toolpath simulation in Carveco Maker. After simulating a toolpath in your model, select the Simulation item in the Project tree, click the Materials list displayed below the Project panel's splitter bar and choose the material you want to use from it, then click Apply. Please watch the following demonstration video available from our Carveco Training portal: Machining Simulation

You can create a solid colour toolpath simulation in both Carveco Maker+ and our flagship product, but not in Carveco Maker. Please watch the following demonstration video available from our Carveco Training portal: Enhanced Colour Simulation

Thanks again for your time and consideration.

  • Sorry about that.

  • Not a problem, Mark Weeden. We appreciate your contributions and we certainly don't expect our customers to remember every nuance when comparing the different Carveco product variants.
