Error Saving Toolpath: Selection Only Contained Open Vectors
Hello,
I'm very new to this and trying to teach myself along with online and available tutorials. One error I have not found self-help on is this error when trying to save a toolpath.
It is very basic, I imported a grid svg to carve a grid on my waste board. I also purchased from two moose the surfacing file and PVC pipe and I'm trying to get this set up for my first carve, ever!
I am getting this error and I don't know what to do. Another part I was not sure, of the bit I'm using is a 90-degree engraving bit (v-bit) 1/4 inch shank, but I can't see to find the exact tool to select. It is like a Caligraphy pen :-) It's a V-bit but only on 1/2 of the point. the other is sort of flat.
anyways, if anyone has any ideas on how to solve for (or point me to a resource on youtube that you may know):
1. Which bit I should be selecting
2. How to get around the "Selection Only Contained Open Vectors" error
Thanks!

Hi Emanuel Matos,
Your post has been escalated to a Support Request by Carveco Support, and the associated ticket is #14167. Please respond to the Support Request.
Thanks for your time and cooperation.
I'm getting the same message and would like to find out what to do.
thanks,
Stephen Pegler
I understand that it was bumped up to support, but once resolved for the OP, why not post a brief on the solution here for everyone else? I am sure that the OP is not the only maker which has that problem....especially since I am going through the exact same issue right now. Sure would be helpful...Looks like all this happened back in July 2023...surely the problem has been solved by now...just sayin'

What toolpath are you selecting?
You know if you want to v-grove open vectors you can always use the "Profile toolpath".
I am assuming here this is what you have chosen.
I really don't know what the problem that Emmanuel had but the wordage sounds like he was trying to v-grove something.
I think sometimes it's best not to reveal the problem because it could cause some embarrassment for the author. I know I sometimes loose sight of things (did that here recently) and it would really cause me to have a red face.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your reply. I am very new myself and did not know about using v-groove for doing open vectors! I think that may solve at least most of my problems...live n' learn!
As to the 'embarrassment' factor...speaking strictly for myself and certainly not for Emmanual, (or anyone else), if I am willing to post a question in a public forum, then I am always willing to receive an answer via that forum...heck...a little embarrassment goes a long way towards memory retention anyway! Lol...Otherwise I would send a private email etc...Seeing in the subject the exact problem you are searching for only to read the thread through and find a dead end with no solution is kind of annoying...I'm sure support would be compassionate and tactful in their response...right? :-) (A short thread in this case but sometimes that is not the case and a lot of time is wasted)
But anyway, Thanks again for your quick response and suggestion.
Tim
Tim,
Thanks for the kind words.
I find that Dillon's tactful answers the best and to the point, I kind of wished I had that skill.
I do agree with you sometimes the answers would help and sometimes it's a problem with the computer or some settings you have that you were unclear or for the life of you you can not see even though it's right there, like when I spend 20 minutes looking for one of 5 tapes I have then I go get a coffee and some gremlin put them back on my table saw, the router, the work table or in the toolbox.
Don't ever be afraid of asking question I do know where newbies come from, and even if we were in direct computation I wouldn't worry too much, I'd still like to answer to the best of my abilities, although there are some I wouldn't, I don't do software comparison's here.
