How can I obtain my IP address?

You must be connected to the internet to obtain the public IP address of your computer.

Find your public IP address using the Command Prompt

To obtain the public IP address of your computer using the Command Prompt:

  1. In the Windows Search bar, type: cmd
  2. From the Search results, select the Command Prompt app. The Command Prompt is displayed:



  3. Copy the following command to the clipboard by highlighting the text and pressing the Ctrl+C keys on your keyboard: nslookup myip.opendns.com resolver1.opendns.com
  4. In the Command Prompt, click the C:\Users\<Username> prompt (where <Username> is the user name associated with your Windows user account) and then paste the command from the clipboard by pressing the Ctrl+V keys on your keyboard.
  5. Press the Return key on your keyboard. The public IP address of your computer is displayed:
