Find your public IP address using the Command Prompt
To obtain the public IP address of your computer using the Command Prompt:
- In the Windows Search bar, type:
cmd - From the Search results, select the Command Prompt app. The Command Prompt is displayed:
- Copy the following command to the clipboard by highlighting the text and pressing the Ctrl+C keys on your keyboard:
nslookup myip.opendns.com resolver1.opendns.com - In the Command Prompt, click the
C:\Users\<Username>prompt (where<Username>is the user name associated with your Windows user account) and then paste the command from the clipboard by pressing the Ctrl+V keys on your keyboard. - Press the Return key on your keyboard. The public IP address of your computer is displayed:
