Is Carveco ready to work with 4th axis?
Hi.
I have a 4th axis which I would love to use. I make the wrap, but I can't machine it. Is Carveco allowing the 4th axis to machine cylinders as yet? If so, please let me know how it is done.
Also, what is the cost to update my software?
Thank you
Gary

Hi Gary Smith,
All toolpaths within Carveco are three-axis. While you can create a rotary model in our flagship Carveco product, our toolpaths do not provide for true four-axis machining; the software makes use of a rotary fourth axis to recreate it.
When creating a rotary model, you choose which axis to wrap on; X or Y depending on your indexer directional location. The Rotary Indexer is normally designated the A-axis. When saving your calculated toolpaths, you should find a post processor option specifically intended for this. For example, Rotary (Y Axis->A).
You are correct in stating that Carveco Version: 1.37 Build: 2022-11-14-1714-86c2bd0e is currently our most recent release. Since your maintenance plan has been lapsed for quite some time now, please contact our Sales team directly by email at sales@carveco.com to discuss your software requirements and the renewal of your maintenance plan.
Thanks again for your time and consideration.
