V bit with 2 angles

I recently purchased the Amana 45628 which is mainly 15 degrees but has a small 45 degree endpoint. Unfortunately, I cant figure out how to add this tool since the program for v bit only has one angle.

  • Hi Maria Daley,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to specify two angles when adding a bit to our Tool Database.

When adding this particular bit to the Tool Database, it's necessary to create a Custom Form Tool; this is only something which can be done in Carveco Maker+. Please watch the following demonstration video available from our Carveco Training portal: Custom Form Tools

Please use this link to download a file named 45628 Solid Carbide V Groove Engraving 15 Deg.tdb. This Tool Database (*.tdb) file contains only your Amana 45628 bit.

    Please complete the following steps:

    1. Start Carveco Maker+.
    2. Create a new model.
    3. From the Project panel, click to select the tree's Toolpaths item.
    4. Click the Tool Database button in the Toolpath Operations area shown below the Project panel's splitter bar. The Tool Database is displayed.
    5. In the Tool Database, click Import. The Import Tool Database dialog is displayed.
    6. From the Import Tool Database dialog, browse to and select the downloaded 45628 Solid Carbide V Groove Engraving 15 Deg.tdb file.
    7. Click Open. The 45628 Solid Carbide V Groove Engraving 15 Deg.tdb file's content is imported into the Tool Database; scroll to the bottom of the Tools and Groups tree to find the 45628 Solid Carbide V Groove Engraving 15 Deg x 1/4 Dia x 0.666" x 1/4 Inch Shank bit.

You can click and drag the imported bit to reposition it in the Tool Database. The parameters specified for the bit are conservative, erring on the side of caution. This is because we do not know what type of stock material you intend to use for your job. Therefore, please check the parameters with Amana if you are considering making any adjustments.

Please watch both of the following demonstration videos available from our Carveco Training portal: Tool Database and Backing Up The Tool Database

Thanks for your time and consideration.
