Job starts with bit well above the material height

New to this whole thing and I'm sure there's an obvious reason but I'm lost.

Simple pattern using Universal G code Platform to send to Sainsmart 3018 Pro. I set the zero coordinate and zero the "z" axis w/ a Z Probe. I'm using 3/4" material. When I start the program the bit raises ~3/4" higher than the top to the wood and then runs through the program...never dropping to the wood surface? I'm sure I'm not setting something up correctly and would appreciate any help.

Thanks,  Sam

  • Hi Sam Doverspike,

You mention that you're using a Z-Probe alongside your SainSmart Genmitsu 3018-PROVer CNC Router. When using Candle as your machine controller, we would recommend that you try selecting the Sainsmart 4030 PROver with Probe (mm) (*.tap) post processor option when saving your calculated toolpaths from Carveco Maker.

If you try using this post processor option in Candle, please confirm your results when replying to this topic.

Thanks for your time and cooperation.
