Reducing machine time for 3D relief models
Hello All. What strategies can one use for shaving time required to carve a model that has to show the detail? My example relief model shows a few small details that I wish to portray.
The toolpath was carefully chosen to carve all of the small details but the simulation appears to suggest that it may not capture the finer detail. How accurate are the simulations? For example, the mall dotted areas are not really visible and I wondered if that meant that they would not show on the actual carved workpiece. Any assistance would be most welcome. The projected time to cut in CAMOTICS .nc viewer is around 3 hours.

i know this has been awhile since posted but what method did you use? Did you try creating a relief Boundry then machine inside selected vectors? When i am doing a plaque i create either a relief boundry or create my own vector around the relief then machine inside that vector instead of clearing the entire square. hope you have found your way.
Thanks for answering. As a support mechanism, this method is far too slow. I am uncertain as to why the support mechanism required 8 weeks to respond to my questions and I had given up on it. This is not an ideal situation for supporting new users.
FWIW, I now do create a relief boundary and adjust the toolpaths as required. I struggled a bit but eventually worked out what was needed. I went through the tutorial video presentations many times.
To my mind... the support mechanism should not be directing new users to this point but suggest the group on Facebook. Having had some random Chinese people attack my Facebook, Linked-In and Twitter accounts simultaneously, I swore off using social media. The failure of the support system on the official Carveco pages (which are reasonably well protected) is what has forced me to use Facebook again.
I am a new user and have concluded that making requests on the official support pages is largely time wasting.
Jeff sorry to hear that i am not part of carveco support i am just another user like you I found the best way to get help on here is to submit a support ticket down below on right. Dillon M. is very quick at response but also remember that reliefs take a long time to do know matter how you look at it. but eventually you will find ways to speed things up i started just where your at. This is my you tube Channel if you don't already follow.https://youtu.be/CVhmZfyAJVw also look up idcwoodcraft Garret Fromme he has alot to offer even though he is using a different software the concept is the same. Another one to check out if not already is rogger webb however if you have trouble and cant find the answer comment on one of my videos i will help you out! best of luck and stay safe.
Hi Jeff Cable,
You have posted to the Community area of the Help Centre, which is intended for peers to engage with one another. If you @ mention Carveco Support when posting, we'd know that you require our assistance. You are welcome to submit a Support Request at any time using the steps provided in this article, which is what our customers typically do.
Please note that while some of our staff visit the Carveco, Carveco Maker and Carveco Maker Plus Users Group on Facebook, it is not one of our official support channels; it not hosted or maintained by our company, and we cannot be confident about sharing customer data securely there.
