Thanks for the new update but,,,,,,,,
Thanks for the new update to Carveco which allows us to open files created as far back as AC 8 but what I would like now is some idea as to what we can expect in the next release of Carveco. Not an update but the new version. In other words I would like a look forward, so far we have had just looks backward (ie fixing problems with the last version of AC as released by AD), now how about what we can look forward to in the way of new tools etc.
Thanks in advance.

Barry, for as long as I've been using Artcam, I've never known a list of new features to be released way out in front of the full release. Most were released and demonstrated in conjunction with the usergroup meetings. Now with Carveco, I'm expecting updates to introduce new features not full version releases, we will have to wait and see on that one, won't we !!!.

You're right Gary, guess I got ahead of myself here. Thanks for the reminder.
I'm hoping the next release is really good...
There are SO MANY improvements that need to be made to the interface - many easy enough to do - but I feel like suggestions, feedback and 'wishes' just go into a black hole and who knows if they will ever be considered or addressed. Don't get me wrong, this is good software, but it needs polishing & I really hope that some changes are made with velocity and not at a snail's pace like the old Delcam. (It took 3 years to get 'form tools' in the database...and instead of being able to draw the form cutter shape - "We'll tell you what shapes you need")
Should I just forget the idea that CarveCo should listen to what customers want in terms of features and the interface? Will you be telling us what's best for us? Again - I, and probably others, feel completely insulated in this regard. You can't say we aren't a patient bunch.
Along the same lines, I would like to see value and real incentive for plunking down another $1600 next year for maintenance. This year's maintenance is already more than halfway used up. I really hope that the good folks at CarveCo understand that margins are tight these days - and the old days of throwing around maintenance money with little in return, are over.
There are many features and tools in another software package I use that costs 1/4 of CarveCo. Aside from higher modelling resolution and PowerMill 3D toolpath strategies, there isn't a whole lot different than the lower priced software, which has several additional features.
There was a time when owning ArtCAM gave you a competitive edge - if you put the time in and learned it. I want that competitive edge at this price point - and I have been patiently waiting for the interface to get cleaned up. The dark background is hard on old eyes...the Undo functionality is horrendously inconsistent from tool to tool, feature machining and toolpath tabs are so convoluted I'd rather stab myself in the leg than use them. The 'other brand' just uses a checkbox to project the toolpath or add tabs.
I hope what I wrote is taken as constructive criticism and not as a complaint. I am still thrilled to have 'ArtCAM' alive and under development again - but it needs to get kicked up a few notches.
I like your statement Barry, shows you are totally enjoying this one and are looking for the next. This last update I really appreciated it fixed some things that I was having a difficulty with, so for me this one was right on.
Brady, would be so cool that in the next release a lot of cool and needed tools to the arsenal that it would hamper and give a competitive edge that would set the competition back a few, I have been an addict with artcam for many years, I have gotten used to the lay-out and work well with in it, I have a problem with in rhino (have a hard time remembering the words to model sometimes) blender (you want to talk of clunky) modo, each one of these have pluses and minuses, one thing I would like would be to grab (you know with the mouse, like we do now with the red arrows) a corner (or anywhere) bring that up with a smooth curvature merging other parts in the model, you are right the dark background should be lighter. All the things we want am wondering how big the software would become and or clunky.
well, all's I can really say is that I am looking forward to the next one. with everyone talking of cost at least the support staff has your back, to me this means much.

Hi
I second many of the issues Brady brought up, I also must say that as a newcomer to the software even though I have used for a couple of years the fact that I have heard nothing about new tutorials is worrisome. I'm sure that someone with no experience with this software would not consider purchasing with only old Autodesk and Delcam tutorials out there. Autodesk started to make an effort in there beginning. To mirror what Brady brought up the other brand does a very good job of this. The thought of my maintenance money going to fix old issues is not what I look forward too. I too am writing with the intention of constructive criticism and not complaining, it is just the silence from Carvco about a future here,
