Emails from Carveco

I want to say first of all that support has been excellent in getting back to me when I have asked a question, but I never have received an email from Carveco that was not a reply to one of mine. I signed up for emails in 2018 and again in the beginning of 2019 since others had said they received a email (mentioned on Autodesk's ArtCAM Forum) but I had not. Something needs to be done about this, as most users do not frequent Autodesk's ArtCAM Forum and have no way to know that Carveco even exists, let alone that the software is currently for sale at a discount.

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for your feedback.

I have to apologise and shoulder the main brunt of responsibility for this from our end. During our company setup, we did encounter a few unexpected hurdles as we tried to establish (or change in some cases) the systems we currently use for both collecting and distributing emails.

Frustratingly, in the early days of our landing page, our sign-up form (before we implemented Recaptcha) became the focus of a delightful spam-bot, that managed to litter our sign-ups database with a treasure trove of junk email accounts. This went under the radar for some time, and though we managed to successfully purge most of these junk addresses, I fear we lost a fair few legitimate contacts during the process.

I have to admit, I was quite surprised (or more naive, in hindsight...) that we'd be the focus of such an attack at such an early stage in our company's life. Although a hard lesson, it motivated us into implementing far more rigorous anti-spam features as we launched the new site.

The other problem we face is down to our business youth. As a new business and associated domain, some of the communications we send are automatically viewed with suspicion by many mail clients, purely because we haven't been around that long. This suspicion often leads to our emails disappearing into the black hole of the Spam folder, or worse, being denied delivery altogether; more commonly known as a 'hard bounce'.

We're definitely in a much better place now, with far more robust systems and processes in place that we'll be continually refining as we grow. Going forward, we're trying our hardest to get the message out to as many people as possible! Over the next few weeks we'll be ramping-up communications across email, social media and beyond.

I'd also like to say, on behalf of the Carveco team, a big thank-you to everyone who has helped in spreading the word about our company and software online. Your support helps so much, and we greatly appreciate it!

  • Hi Barry - Nice to see a familiar name from the original Delcam ArtCAM Forum. You've always been a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for that.

I concur with your findings. I have several customers using ArtCAM Pro that signed up for Carveco email notifications (including me, BTW), but never received anything whatsoever via email. They had no idea that Carveco had been released until we were speaking on the phone last week.

The only way I found out Carveco had been released was on a woodworking forum.

  • My information was given on the Autodesk ArtCAM Forum. Sure am glad I looked, and am happy that we will have someone at our backs now, and not with a knife but support.

Though this forum, since I have only travelled on 4 other forums, is kind of hard on my head. Well, am glad it's here.

  • You can count on our support team being there for you, Mike.

All new things become familiar and easier with time, so please be patient. I'm confident you'll see the benefits of using the Help Centre and its community within a short space of time.

    Kind regards,

  • I really have enjoyed seeing you here so far, Dillon. So far, the software hasn't been a problem, although there are some improvements or additions that I would like to see. I did post them to the Feature Request topic, though sort of put a few in there (hopefully that will not agitate someone). I think they would greatly speed up the modeling since we can see what things look like before we are committed to the shape.

Anyway, it's good to see some very familiar names like Michael, Barry, Gary, even Brady. Can't wait to see what Michael does.

    Have a good one.

    Mike
