Error code 33 using grbl (inch)

I am a new user of Carveco but have experience with Vcarve Pro and a shop bot at work. My home router is a lead 1515 from Openbuilds. I am getting the error 33 code during a program that is carving out something. I read that I may need to add a zero to something to make it not so sensitive? I don't know where to make this change in Carveco, I have looked everywhere. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance!

  • Michael Thornburg I’m having the same thing with my sainsmart
What did you do to fix it?

  • Victor
I know I switched all the holes I was milling to drilled holes. I used some old router bits for the plunges. The error had to do with holes in my replacement waste board. All the mounting holes were circles. Sorry no resolution. Just a workaround.

This was escalated and then combined with an unrelated error. So never really addressed. Covid and life in general had tabled this issue until Victor brought it back from the closet. FYI.

  • Sorry time is a fleeting thing.

So the post processor I was given the only change I could see was the addition of the G90 line. This fixed a different issue but did nothing for the 33 error.

I thought I did attach files for reference but that may have been lost in the cross over. I originally had two separate issues, that were combined.

I no longer have issues with the offline controller but my setup does not like the holes for a new spoil board. I worked around the error by changing all the holes from area clearance with a small bit to a drilled hole and used an old router bit to enlarge them. Running the same program with a bigger bit in the machine.

I don’t remember what I sent as samples BUT I might be able to reset the files and see if I can duplicate the issue.

  • Hi Michael Thornburg,

You seem to be thinking of the Sainsmart_4030_PROver_mm_Probe.con post processor which was supplied in Support Request #6127. This post processor is included within the latest Carveco software installer.

The modified Sainsmart_4030_PROver_mm.con post processor sent to you in Support Request #4481 on October 6th 2021 included support for values to four decimal places, while the iteration currently included in the installer includes support for values to three decimal places. It is this which typically triggers an Error 33 message.

Victor Wolf has been sent a pair of modified Sainsmart_4030_PROver_inch_Probe.con and Sainsmart_4030_PROver_mm_Probe.con post processors which include support for values to four decimal places, but he has yet to provide any feedback.

Thanks again for your time and consideration.

  • Sorry I must have missed that. I know I found references online on how to extend the support to 4 places, I feel like I made those changes on my own with no success. But I will take a look again at everything and see what is happening.
I am very sorry to keep this dragged out so long. You guys are the best. Truly Thank You!!!

  • So, two issues...

1: I did try the 4 and 5 decimal places and from my notes that did not work.

2: Try as I might, I cannot get the error to trigger. I have loaded old cut files and run them all and nothing. As far as I know the error corrected itself after I found my work around. I will be watching [Victor Wolf: A modified post processor was sent to you for testing on January 4th 2022 in Support Request #7231.] for updates.

Unfortunately, we've yet to receive a response from Victor Wolf. We have not received any further reports of Error 33 errors when running .tap files saved using any of our SainSmart post processors.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
