Convert .stl to .rlf

I have a relief model that was designed for me and it is an stl file.

It loads into Maker perfectly well as an imported 3D model.

Is there any way of getting it converted to a rlf file to make it easier to manipulate and keep in the relief library?

I have searched for "convert stl to rlf" and various combinations thereof but found no specific answer to my question.

I have read the "manipulating stl files" post thread but that doesn't have the answer either.

  • Hi Tony,

An STL is a triangle model. While you can import and export triangle models in STL format when working in Carveco Maker, you cannot save a relief as a Carveco Relief file (*.rlf).

If you have any further questions or requests, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

  • Thank you for the quick reply.

Is that also the same for Maker+ and is there any way of converting stl to rlf?

  • Hi Tony,

You can import an STL file (*.stl) into your model using the Relief > Import > Import 3D Model menu option and then paste it into your relief; please watch the following demonstration video included in our Carveco Fundamentals training course: Importing 3D Models

You cannot save a relief from Carveco Maker+ either; you would require our flagship Carveco product to achieve this.

If you have any further questions or requests, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks again for your time and consideration.

  • Thank you clarifying.

I am going to upgrade to Maker+ shortly but the step up to Carveco is a little too steep just yet :-)

    Kind regards,

    Tony
