Profile Cut in Both Directions

Is there a way to cut one vector in both directions.  For example, I want to cut a 1/4" deep groove, with 1/8" step down (depth of cut) for each pass.  Since I've currently selected climb as the cut direction, the router does the first 1/8" deep pass, raises, returns to the start of the vector and does the final 1/8" pass.  To save time (my project requires hundreds of these moves) I would like the router to just start the second pass at the end of the vector and return to the start of the vector.  In other programs (Cambam) you would be able to select "both" directions to accomplish this.  Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris

  • Have you tried to make a rectangle (real thin mind you) like .002" thick the toolpath will follow that in both directions, this is about all I know how to get it to travail in both directions.

  • Unfortunately, by design is way too complex for that.
