Scale multiple vectors at the same time

If I have 20 vectors, let say 20 stars, and I want to make them all just a little bit bigger, how can I scale them all at the same time? I want them bigger in their current location, when I group and try to transform they all get moved.

  • Kevin,

You might help by stating which version you're working in.

In the Pro. you get all the vectors (all of them high lighted in "red") Hit the "T" on the key board this brings up the "Transform tool" you can adjust them by one of two ways either by "Percentage" or numerically. I myself would prefer to change each one by the same percentage (easier on the brain), plus when you change them one by one you can adjust location as needed. It has been a bit since I played with "Maker or Maker Plus" so all the tools available in each is in a dark closet for me.

If I didn't answer let me know where I went wrong.

  • Hi Kevin,

It's true (and unfortunate) that you cannot change them all at once, while keeping the same location for each. You need to select and transform each star at its location, one at a time.

It'd be great if Carveco used 'blocks' (like AutoCAD) or 'components' (like SketchUp) for example... but I'm afraid there is not such a feature.

    Hope that helps,

    Elina

  • Elina,

I have asked for some Features to be added, this isn't one I ever thought of (mainly because I use only Carveco (some Rhino too). The stuff I have requested were mainly for features in the tools that I use and think it would be of great help.

If I could get you to place this request in https://support.carveco.com/hc/en-gb/community/topics/360000710332-Feature-Discussion.

  • Thank you for the reply. It is unfortunate indeed. I'm new to CNC but coming from Lightburn and laser engraving. This is definitely a feature I'd like to have!

  • Hi Mike,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll do just that :)

  • Elina,

I know in the world there are no stupid people, I believe everyone has great view points that need to be taken into account, I know to some that view isn't a value point but to me it is (most of the time I don't mess this up, I can though).

Some of my Ideas revolve around the modeling area, some would help with the placement of the cookie cutter by adding 3 more arrows to adjust the height (I had a job that was sorta tedious it involved pasting a leaf on about 40 layers my eyes were swimming about 1/2 way through, after pasting the things down had to use the angled plane tool to adjust the height on 3 point all the while having all layer viable I though heck this could be a part of the cookie cutter too so I asked for it. Another one I suggested had to do with the angled plane itself, I was doing a lot f different flowers and leaves at the time (each had to be different but the same basic shape) I thought an addition to the angled plane tool that we could add a concave or a convex shape, with the angled plane tool you can set the point of the angle either holding the vectors or not, if we could do that the either the dip or the rise (high or low) points could add a different shape in the 3d. At the time I was using elongated vectors on another layer then deleting everything outside the shape (this was a struggle). I asked for this last one I thing first time when this was Artcam 2012 I think.

We all have great ideas, we all use the program in a way that suits us and our view should be addressed in a way that could better the program. Some of my people have suggested I use textures to augment my models,  I do this now and I really like what it does.
