Rapid feed rate settings 0.000 mm/sec based on 1.00 scaling factor

I built a pretty robust machine what do you recommend for a rapid feed rate. I have my rough and finishing milling feed rate @140 inches a min. thank you in advance.

  • Rob,

Robust machines are cool, really nifty, I mean it.

It isn't the strength of your machine that'll give you success it is the material that's removed and what the bit tears out and how much time it'll take to fix it. The weak spot in every machine is those little things that do the heavy lifting (your bits) they are the ones that are going to determine how fast you are going to be able to go. The robust machines are great for only one thing and that's to keep tight tolerances and keep the bits moving.

Now to answer your question, I, myself take what Carveco determines then add 25% more sometimes as much as 50%, I suppose I could go faster, it's light buying cheeeeep equipment (the most expensive machine is always the least expensive) because you'll always break down and fix it or you'll purchase the more expensive one after, too fast and then there's the fixing, slop or garbage you'll make then you'll have to purchase more material and re-cut, time wasted.
