strange issue after carveco update using the sainsmart 4040 pro
ok. when i start the machine it jogs just fine. it follows instructions. it moves in the increment i tell it to. cm/mm if i set the move to 1mm it moves that. if i set it to just jog till i release the button it does that.
now after i load a job i made in carveco the machine acts like the jog option is whatever the machine wants. hold till release is now a ten inch move in whatever direction. (z axis is not happy about this) if i restart the machine its fine.
but as soon as i load a file made in the new version of carveco the machine is not going to jog correctly until i restart it.
now before some one comes and tells me it not carveco. hold on and read this part before hand.
i have a lot of older files on the same memory card that were made on the older version of carveco maker. (maker plus on new and old.) those older files do not bork the machine.
has anyone else encountered this???

Kathy,
You saying these are the new files that are being problematic, like it moving 10 inches instead of 10 mm?
These are in the file, while running the file?
Did you have a Microsoft update also?
I'm asking this because I have been running new files every day this week (10 files if it's anything) I'm running 2 of them today today) from the new version of Carveco (not maker or the plus)
I also have my machine control software on a pc that is not connected to the internet and hasn't been updated in the last (I think) 2 years so, so it isn't updating Microsoft windows and then causing me problems.
When I do multiple files in a day I set up multiple different locations, I have an old rg 5996 (techno Isel) the control software is fantastic, once one job is done I move the gantry and spindle to another location, so your description isn't what's happening to me.
Now in my computers I run scans all the time (when I'm busy doing something else), I delete all the junk windows likes to hold onto every evening, just saying.
One last thing, it has happened to me not saying this but you mentioned mm then you mentioned inches, are you using metric or are you using the imperial measurement system? Did you verify in your model setup that you are using your choice, the same goes for the toolpaths.

the file will run fine. but its the jog feature of the machine that gets borked if the new file is loaded and i hit start.
i can load the new file hit start and immediately hit stop exit the job and the jog feature of the machine is now borked till i restart the machine. if i do the same on an older file i do not get the same result. whether running the file to completion or start stop. the old file does not bork the jog function of the machine. the new file post update borks the jog. when i mention in/mm that is the jog function of the offline controller of the cnc. it doesnt care which. its counting steps on the motors. the in/mm setting is jog in the direction i say till i release the button. the mm function is move a 1.mm .1 mm .01mm or .001 mm. the mm function seems like it is two steps more than what it should be move 1mm command moves ten mm. and so forth. restarting the machine takes it back to normal. this only happens after loading the new files and hitting start/ stop or hitting start and letting the machine run the file to completion
i should also add that i am not running this directly from the computer. i have an offline controller for the cnc that takes a memory card that i can transfer from my pc to the cnc. there is no direct connection between them. there are older files on this same card that do not break the jog function.
Kathy,
Have you posed this problem to your Facebook members, I looked up your router, they have an update (don't know if this is relevant or not) They might have run across the same problem? I didn't read too much about this machine, so I don't know if they have a support that you can talk too or not, you might try that Facebook thing.
Now support (an important and fantastic people) have you tried to get a hold of them, I know every time I have they've been great (Carveco people).
I'm just shooting in the dark, I'm not going through the same issue that's why I suggested you try the people who support your router.
