Can't find settings to "Toolpath Simulation - Block Definition"

Hi folks,

I subscribe to Maker - not Maker+ or Carveco.

I've had 2 separate support requests submitted on this topic and waited nearly 3 months on the last request, only to get a reply that lacks specific and precise instruction on how to find toolpath simulation settings.  (see capture of said window, sent to me by their support rep)

The issue is with Maker's speed of the simulation's rendering.  I'd like to know if their suggested tweak of changing the "Simulation Relief Resolution" would help.  Problem is, I can't find this settings window.  The reference help states that deleting the toolpath simulation in the 3D view is required before making changes, but once deleted, how does one get to open the "Toolpath Simulation - Block Definition" window?

If you've been able to access this window, please let me know... I just can't seem to find the click or widget that gets me to see it.

Many thanks,
Marcel

  • Let me be clear (mainly for me so I understand) You are not asking to watch the end-mill do it's job? Right?

You just want to watch to simulation results?

To get that block all you have to do is click on (select) the toolpath that window pops up.

There is another setting I'd have to look (search) for to have the bit shown while running through the toolpath.

  • Hi Mike,

Actually I do need to watch the end-mill do its job.  Some reliefs or projects have higher material (i.e. inlays) or clamp down equipment that may be in the way.  Some very expensive materials can be ruined otherwise, especially expensive woods combined with hours of epoxy work, etc.

That said, Carveco Support wrote back earlier today to state their Help Reference for their Maker product is wrong.

From Carveco Support: "You are also correct, the reference help needs to be amended, as the Block Definition is not available in Maker unfortunately, only in Maker+ and Carveco"

It leaves me disappointed.  Properly seeing or adjusting speeds of the path simulation is a minimum feature you'd expect out of any CNC toolpath design product, without having to pay extra to see it.

In my case, I'm using a 1 year old laptop with the latest graphics card... the simulation speed is so fast that you can't tell exactly where the tool is going, no way to slow it down by 'x' times, etc.  This means I have to export the Gcode and load it into another product to assess, which is time consuming.

Thanks for your response though, much appreciated.
