Imported STEP/STL 3D files become severely pixelated after pasting and closing the paste 3d model box

Hello everyone,

I received a bunch of files from another business owner for some vintage keyboard side panels. He was running fusion 360 software and sent them in both in STEP and STL format. When I import them into Carveco maker plus they appear to be in good order, the holes are are in good detail and such. As soon as I paste it, the image becomes very pixelated to the point when I run a simulation for the relief toolpath it doesn't pick up all the detail, where holes and other engravings should be.

I really don't want to recreate them from scratch. I tried changing the resolution before and after importing and pasting and it doesn't seem to work.

Any advice tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

  • Matt,

Could it be it was a nasty file? I have received those and the fellow I received them from was so amendment that his files were perfect until I showed up at his office to have him open them up. They were not.

Maybe the file is screwy? When ever I send a file I am very concerned that they are right I get verification as soon as possible, Give him (or her) a call to have them to double check.

By the way with out pictures I can only go by my experience, so the next time take a screen shot of what it looks like before pasting down and after. There isn't much you can do to screw up a step file it usually comes out the way it looks before pasting, but the way you're describing it sounds like a jpg file.
