3D Figurines/Models for 4th Axis Rotary Carve

Just bought the 4th axis revolution from Onefinity and trying to figure out how to use the rotary feature in Carveco Maker to carve a figurine or 3D model. Whenever I add an STL it just pastes to the top of the model.  Are there any enhancements coming to the rotary feature so that we can do 3D figurines like I've seen people do in Vectric?

Thanks!

  • Jessica,

You might find this video a good source for information.

  • So does that mean we can't do figurines with the rotary tool?

  • Lonnie,

I don't own a 4th axis for my cnc, I had to do a search myself to verify here's a video for you, hope it helps answer your question. Please watch it.

  • Thank you, Michael,  My search capabilities must suck because I was having no luck finding anything that was not vectric

  • You now before vectric it would come up Artcam, but there wasn't too many videos then, when you wanted to figure out anything you had to wait for the once a year updates then order the dvd's (they were great). Now that Artcam has become Carveco, Leighton does a great job with his videos, Oh we also had a fantastic forum that had a lot of responses like when Michael put his lion up, don't know why it isn't the same, would be great if it was.

The search I did was to use the word "Carveco, maker" in it.

       Have a good one.

  • My apologies; I got excited before I understood what the video you posted was about. If it can be done, the following is an example of what I and maybe what the original poster is looking for with Carveco Maker +.

This was done using Vcarve Desktop. The link below describes the process with a Longmill CNC and its rotary axis.

Your Second Project - Vortex Rotary Axis

Can it be done in carveco maker+ with the rotary tool?  Or is it only able to be done using the process in the video you posted prior

  • Lonnie,

I don't have a 4th axis so this stuff is all totally alien to me, in reality I spend my time making reliefs so the 4th axis is something I do not even try, butttttt, I can search for info just like you. Here's a link to a year or so ago that really answered the request, go ahead and read it then if you have a 4th axis you could help people who ask for info (I'd greatly appreciate it since this is an area I have no knowledge of).

  • I appreciate you trying. I’ve read that, and what that person describes is the issue Jessica Fig and I ran into when trying to use Carveco for a project similar to what I posted. That’s why I piggybacked on this thread, since it is asking the same questions I had and is more recent. I'm leaning towards Caveco Maker+ not being able to, but was hoping to get a more concrete answer over my assumption.

I guess I should start a new thread, as this one says it’s been answered.

    Thank you

  • Thanks,

I kind of get hooked, then I can't unleash myself from somethings and I have to go until I know.

I watch another video last night and was going to put it here but a 1 am (and I get up at 5) it's late, Here it is

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDg1hEh3XO8,

Well too bad, I don't have a 4th axis and would have enjoyed it if someone would have provided the step, maybe I'd get one then.

       Have a good one.
