Machine Relief Finishing Pass

Only new to Carveco watched quite a few tutorials etc.I have followed the Tips & Tricks: Leave Text Standing Proud. I'm making a memorial plaque and found this fairly close to what I needed. I'm done a couple of 3D toolpath Everything up until the Finishing toolpath in the simulation is running well, which seems is in two parts, the first pass cleans up nicely on the roughing operation. Trouble is that after it has done its thing it then comes back and starts wiping out everything bar the relief.I have followed the tips and tricks to the letter from what I can see.

In the picture you can see the vectors that are offsets of the text and that it has cut them out as required but then starts machining everything off, I can't see where it is going wrong.

Roughing comes out as expected

End Simulation cleared of everything except the Relief

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Dave

  • Out of curiosity do you have your Text's on another relief layer? (good use, and idea)

And when you did your toolpath were they active (the other layer)?

If they were on different layers you have you make sure they are active when doing your toolpaths.

By saying active I mean to say the little lights" TO the rt in the project area" have to be on not (the lights) just visible in the 3d view.

You will notice that the first layer is not lit, it means that that layer will not be cut out.

Okay I forgot to add that if you cut inside the vectors (and if you have a multitude of vectors) you might want to always group them, that way when you go to select the vectors you will grab them all at once, if you select them one at a time you might miss one or two.
