Simple shape test - Start of milling operation bit is about 2 CM (.75 inches) above material
Hi All,
Onefinity Elite Foreman.
Relatively new to this. Using Carveco Maker to cut a simple 2D cut out and the cut is starting about 1/2 inch above the material and doesn’t make contact until about the third pass. While this simple shape is being made in Carveco Maker, this is relatively basic. I set up a toolpath that sets the depth of cut to the same or a little less than the depth of the material. I’ve setup other toolpaths exactly the same way. I don’t think it is a software problem but a me problem.
This started happening when I went to this 6mm (1/4 inch) material. I have set coordinates manually and set z manually. I have also used the touch probe with same results.
I have started simply, working to get a consistent process but this starting Z height is driving me crazy. It seems to me a fault in my setup approach. I have compared other models that I have made that worked just fine and the settings seem similar.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Humbly yours,
Keith

Mind if I ask some questions?
Like in the software when you went to do the toolpath, did you specify the material thickness (sometimes when I get too busy this happens to me), are you zeroing out on the table or the top of materiel? Go back into Carveco Maker and see also check out the thickness make sure both match with what you're doing, top of material or top of bed, did a carving and forgot to give the thickness of material, it air cut. (things happen)
