Raster X-Y not clearing surface
I am making a 3D plaque in Carveco Maker. The Finishing pass is Raster X-Y at 45 deg. 1/16" ball mill. Stepover is .0156", Stepdown is .1" , Speed is 30 in/min. When the project completes, there are many places where the second pass of the Raster X-Y does not remove the X lines. Almost like the second pass is not deep enough, but not the entire plaque. Any suggestions?

That's really cool the way wood responds to being milled, huh? What type of material (wood)? With the 1/16 inch bit you can get by dropping the thing down by .03". I would change the height touch-off so my "Z" height will allow me to remove about .015" (depending on species of wood). On my router my touch-off is .375, I'll change it to .390" re-zero off the 1/16" and run the toolpath again.

Thanks for the quick response. You were correct. The wood is mahogany and very dry. But it was moving. I dropped down .010" and ran the Raster X-Y again. Very light cross hatch pattern over the surface. Easily sandable.
