  • Hi, that seems to have corrected the issue, however Carveco is prompting me to upgrade to the latest build.  I will wait to hear from regarding the upgrade.  I also just renewed my maintenance, would this have anything to do with this issue?  Thank you.

  • Hi Danny Barnes,

    Many thanks for your response.

The notification message shown in your Carveco software prompting you to update is displayed because you're currently working in Carveco Version: 1.47 Build: 2023-10-12-0825-8f581aa9 and Version: 1.48 Build: 2023-11-20-1550-d05f8f97 is available to download and install.

However, we've determined that there is an issue with how wrapped reliefs are being drawn in Version: 1.48 Build: 2023-11-20-1550-d05f8f97, so please remain working in Carveco Version: 1.47 Build: 2023-10-12-0825-8f581aa9 while our Development team work towards implementing a fix.

What you seeing in your supplied screenshot is both the triangle mesh and the double-sided relief being drawn concurrently, both in blue. In short, there are two copies of the ring, with one marginally smaller than the other. The exported triangle mesh only includes one ring, just as it did when working in Carveco Version: 1.47 Build: 2023-10-12-0825-8f581aa9. In Carveco Version: 1.48 Build: 2023-11-20-1550-d05f8f97, we changed the way the relief was drawn to reflect shrinkage being applied by the Material Setup dialog; it seems that this has inadvertently caused the discrepancy between the size of the relief and the triangle mesh.

In short, while the triangle mesh being created from the relief seems to be correct, the relief is currently being wrapped to an incorrect diameter. In addition, both the mesh and relief are unexpectedly being drawn with the same blue material. It is our current understanding that this issue only affects rings which have been created from the Project tree's Shanks tools.

We'll be sure to provide you with an update in this topic and in reply to Support Request #16384 as soon as we have further information to share.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

  • Also, since I have been using an older version and Carveco is constantly telling me there is an update, how will I know when this newest build will be available?  Thank you.

  • Hi Danny Barnes,

The Carveco 1.51 release being deployed today (February 27th 2024) solely to address a critical issue which prevents Carveco software from starting on some Windows 10 computers with an older Intel processor. This release does not include any other fixes or enhancements, therefore your expected fix in relation to rotary models should hopefully be included as part of the Carveco 1.52 update to follow soon afterwards.

Thanks again for your understanding and patience.

  • Hi Dillon, can you shed any light on when I might be able to use the latest build of Carveco?  As you know, I renewed my maintenance in November of 2023.

    Happy Spring, Danny
