Software reinstall

Hi

Have been having some issues with opening Carveco and with the screen freezing and the program shutting down.

Had a tech take a look at my computer and the runtime errors. He suggested first thing to try is to reinstall the software on the computer as it's been since 2020 . I think I remember that there was a protocol for doing this. And would also like some advise on housekeeping before I do this, saving models I have made in the Clipart library and the Tool Library. Attached is my build info. Please let me know if you need anything more

Thanks Bill

  • Hi William Grix,

If you've added reliefs to your Relief Clipart Library, as a safeguarding measure, you might want to backup the contents of C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Carveco\Reliefs\ (or C:\Users\<Username>\OneDrive\Documents\Carveco\Reliefs\ if you have OneDrive Sync enabled) on your computer, where <Username> is the username associated with your Windows user account.

If you've added your own tools or bits to your Tool Database, as a safeguarding measure, you might want to backup the .tdb file in C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Carveco\Tool Database\ (or C:\Users\<Username>\OneDrive\Documents\Carveco\Tool Database\ if you have OneDrive Sync enabled) on your computer, where <Username> is the username associated with your Windows user account.

The maintenance plan relating to your perpetual Carveco software license lapsed on July 2nd 2020. When a maintenance plan lapses, you lose access to further Carveco software updates and to priority support. You can find further information about our maintenance plans on our company website: https://carveco.com/support/maintenance/

The most recent Carveco software release you're currently entitled to use is Version: 1.16 Build: 2020-06-16-1750-95e752aa and you can retrieve the installer using this link: Carveco-1.16-2020-06-16-1750-95e752aa.exe

Regarding your reported stability issues, please try completing the following steps on your computer (although please note that you'll lose any interface customisation which you've made within your Carveco software in the process):

    1. Download the Reset Carveco 1.x.reg.zip file to your computer using this temporary download link: https://we.tl/t-bbaTWnf6P8
    2. Extract the downloaded Reset Carveco 1.x.reg.zip file.
    3. Shut down all sessions of Carveco currently running on your computer.
    4. Double-click the extracted Reset Carveco 1.x.reg file. A User Account Control message is displayed asking if you want to allow the application to make changes to your device.
    5. Click Yes. A Registry Editor warning message is displayed explaining that you are modifying the registry and asking you to confirm that you want to continue.
    6. Click Yes. A message is displayed confirming keys and values have been added to the registry.
    7. Click OK. The message box is closed.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
