Problems with CNC machine skipping

Hi, Hoping someone can help, I have a FoxAlien Masuter Pro and have been having fun doing pictures using Carveco Maker and Universal Gcode Platform (UGS) to send the code from Carveco Maker to the machine which has been working fine.

I have now moved up to making a small 8" x 8" x 0.75" deep bowl shaped in the face of a dog and with the dog's face carved into the bottom. In Carveco Maker, everything is OK and I have even managed to create a small one (just as a tester) and it seemed to work fine but when it comes to the larger one things get a bit tricky. Yes, everything is fine in Carveco Maker and the first couple of clearance layers go well but my machine seems to be get stuck for a split second then carry's on but the spindle is then in the wrong place and the cutting continues in the the wrong place, then it gets stuck again and so and so. At first I thought it was because I was using oak, but it has also done it on beach and pine.

The only thing I have done to the machine is to upgrade the router to a Makita. The only thing I thought it could possibly be was the sawdust/chipping getting caught in the rollers.

Can anyone help?

Thanks Tanya

  • Hi Tanya Chesney,

Based on the information you've provided, this seems to be a hardware issue rather than an issue with your Carveco Maker software or using Universal Gcode Sender as your controller.

Please confirm whether you've already contacted FoxAlien Support to request their assistance. You can contact them from here.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
