Some feature suggestions

1) With multi-segment vectors, it would be helpful to allow preservation of tangency between adjacent path-segments of different type (e.g. a smooth transition between an arc and a line).

2) I just found out that it is possible to nudge by fixed distances in Carveco. It would be nice if this feature were enhanced by making ‘Shift+Arrow’ nudge 2x distance, and ‘Ctrl+Arrow’ nudge 1/2x distance. I have seen this feature in several vector illustration programs (sometimes ‘Alt+Arrow' is used for 1/2x nudge).

3) In the Texture Relief tool, it would be nice to have the ability to change the angle of a texture (e.g. changing crosshatching from horizontal to being slanted at 45 degrees.

4) I can understand why advanced 3d rendering isn’t available (and I wouldn’t want this to be a development priority for Carveco), but it would help to visualize reliefs if some simple form of ambient-occlusion were added as an option in the Lights and Rendering dialog. This might be especially helpful when using the sculpting tools.

5) The snap-grid is difficult to see on high resolution monitors. It would be helpful if the Snap Grid Settings dialog gave the option to increase the size of the grid-indicator dots (or perhaps to show the grid as lines).

6) I find the sculpt tools to work well, but I think they would benefit from adopting a few keyboard shortcuts conventionally used by dedicated sculpting applications such as Zbrush:

  • ‘Shift’ to invoke the smooth tool.
  • ‘Alt’ for invert the action of the deposit tool (perhaps that is the same as invoking the carve tool)
  • ‘[‘ and ‘]’ keys as shortcuts for increasing and decreasing brush size.

  • I'd like to add another item to my list of suggestions:

    7) It would be nice to have the ability to adjust the opacity of the bitmap layer (to make it easier to use as a vector tracing template)
