Passed engraving of letters on stone

Good morning.
I'm supposed to engrave letters on hard stone. They suggested that I make Z passes of 0.5mm at a time. To prevent the tip from wearing out quickly, it would be necessary that the first 0.5 mm pass made it on all the letters and then the 1 mm pass took it up from the first letter to the last and so on up to the maximum depth. I can only make the various passes with an increment of 0.5 mm up to the maximum depth allowed only one letter at a time. Is it possible to program to do as I described above?
