If you install the Carveco 1.6 Update, you should be able to open any legacy ArtCAM files (*.art; *.3dp; *.rlf: *.3da) in your Carveco software. The release of the Carveco 1.6 Update was announced here and you can find the release notes here.

  • ArtCam file originating from any version of ArtCAM software between 2013.SP2 and 2018.2.1 are compatible with Carveco software.

Pre 2013SP2 files you would need to open and re-save in 2013.SP2 or above

There is also a batch converter that runs under 2015R2, not sure of the availability of it now.

As I understand it if you have a license for Carveco, but do not have AC 2015, Carveco support will convert the old files for you at no charge. At least that was what I was told before I bought my Carveco license.

  • You might read the FAQ section "Are my Artcam files compatible....."

    That should clarify converting files

  • I started with Artcam a loooong time ago, I am not even sure what version it was (around 2004?).  I then focused more on Rhino and then I started using Zbrush,

When I saw the pricing for Carveco I jumped on it.  I have all the jpg files I used to create the models and it would probably be best if I just recreated the models to re-learn the software.

So no real issue, just more being somewhat lazy in my old age.

Thanks for the responses. Barry good to see your name again!
