Sorting and editing posts, and controlling notifications
One thing that needs to happen ASAP is a button that would bring up all of the new posts on one page. It will be a nightmare to have to scroll through entire threads or dozens of post topics to find out if there is something new or not. Also, please allow us to opt out of being notified of a new post via e-mail. When the forum is running at full tilt this could mean dozens of notifications each time you log into your e-mail client.
Thank you

Also, an Edit button so that we can add or change something we have posted if we wish; a timed system like that of the Autodesk Knowledge Network's forums (a 15 minute window) would be fine.

This is not a forum in the traditional sense; it is a community within a Help Centre which is fully integrated with our support desk. You are not forced to scroll through topics or to follow them permanently.
As shown below, you can sort posts within a topic by:

Actually no, this is going to drive folks away from the community. I just logged in and had to go through all of the topics and threads to see what had been replied to and what had not. I saw from my email inbox that there were 3 emails telling me this info but I do not want to have my inbox full of these messages.
Also, a way to get back to the main community page would be good, now I have to scroll back to the top of the page to get there.
Thanks for pointing out the Edit menu option. Much appreciated.
Barry, are you actually asking that when you login it promulgates a list of your unread topics?
Gary

A list of community posts sorted by the newest is displayed here. The name of the post's author is clearly shown below its title, and a status is displayed beside it. For example, Answered.
Why not just view your contributions and check for responses in them? I don't have any issues at all with navigating the Help Centre and community, or tracking topics and posts, even when viewing from my iPhone device.
If you do not want to receive notifications for a specific topic, all you need to do is Unfollow the topic, as documented in the article referenced in the response above.

Use the breadcrumbs below the Help Centre's header bar to return to Carveco Help Centre > Community, or click this link instead; the Help > Community menu option and the Help page's Community tile within your Carveco software also take you to the same place.
Kind regards,
Dillon

More or less yes if I understand you correctly. Or at least that there be a button that will call up new posts. Here is an example, though you may have to be a member to see the page.
I have never been on a forum like this one. They all have some mechanism for showing what posts have been read and which have not. This forum/community does not. Even the Autodesk ArtCAM Forum showed which topics had new posts and ranked these in order of most recent to oldest.

Please refer to my previous response here. All of what you're describing can already be done in the community.
You clearly expect the community to operate like a PHPBB forum board, but it is not based on that platform. If it were, it would not have tight integration with our support desk and that is what will ultimately benefit our customers most significantly.
Kind regards,
Dillon
Dillon, I do not follow what you are saying, it seems to me that you are suggesting I click some breadcrumb that appears to be at the top of the page. Thats the problem I am talking about. Also, I am not just interested in finding out when someone is responding to my post but when someone else has commented on a post other than mine.
This place should be easy and comfortable, at the moment, it seems to me, to not be. I wonder how you knew that I had posted in reply to you and Gary? Did you get 2 e-mails? Did you open the thread and scroll through the entire thing? There has to be a better way and as I said above every other forum I have been on has found it.
I just do not get how to activate the features you say are available to me. I would appreciate any clarity you could provide.

I thought it was a forum not a vehicle for tech support. Sorry to be so dense but I just do not get it.

While there is no dedicated button to take you to the top of a Help Centre page, this is entirely unnecessary if you're using Chrome as your browser. Pressing Home on your computer's keyboard takes you to the top of the page; see Chrome keyboard shortcuts > Windows and Linux > Webpage shortcuts for details.

I can achieve that by viewing this page.

Everybody can see on the Help Centre's Home page when a post has been made to a community topic; I don't need to check my email inbox for notifications, as I've already set which topics and posts I do and do not follow using the instructions provided in associated Help Centre knowledge base articles:

The Help Centre and its community is a platform intended for our staff to support customers, and for users of Carveco software to engage with their peers and our staff. All of these interactions populate the Help Centre's knowledge base with searchable content.
Our support agents can immediately escalate any community post to a support ticket, as shown below:

I do not see that, Dillon. I am using the latest version of Firefox; maybe that's the problem. The arrow key works fine, thanks for reminding me of it.

When using Firefox Quantum 66.0.3 (64-bit) as the browser on my Windows 10 computer, I have no issues with viewing the Community Browse area in the lower-half of the Help Centre's Home page exactly as it is pictured in my previous comment.
I know your computer has been fraught with issues recently, so I hope that this is not another consequence of those ongoing issues.
Kind regards,
Dillon
Dillon, I don't think its a computer issue as I tried to find community browse in 3 different browsers, Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, as well as on my phone, and no luck. I guess I will just have to live with it. Thanks for trying to help.
It is a bit convoluted to navigate to what most would consider the forum 'home page' or at least to get to the overall Community page, just to be able to see all the different sections of the forum.
I think that an easy solution would be to put a Community Discussion Forum icon/button/shortcut among the existing ones named; FAQ, Purchasing & Delivery, Licensing and Installation, Community Guidance when you arrive at https://support.carveco.com
When you click on Community Guidance, you arrive at "Carveco Help Centre > Community Guidance" with no link to the discussion forum. Furthermore, if you have no Contributions or are not Following any thread, you would have no 'back door' way to access the forum via getting to the branch on the proverbial tree as it were to eventually arrive at Carveco Help Centre > Community > General Discussion (et al).
I think nearly everyone would be pleased if there was an easy to access link that took you to Carveco Help Centre > Community (not Community Guidance) straight away, somewhere on the https://support.carveco.com main page after login.
Regarding the forum section names...
I'd like to make a suggestion...Since the meaning of 'chatter' is quite often a negative term within the machining realm, I was thinking that maybe we could call it something a bit more positive...Like Engraving Talk...Engraving Discussion...or just plain Engraving, etc.
