Not sure where to start? Introduce yourself here...
Hello Everyone! This is my first post to the Carveco Community. I'm really excited to see ArtCAM's legacy continued with Carveco.
I thought I'd take the opportunity to introduce myself - and hope fellow participants will do the same, in the name of making new friends and building a powerful, professional community. I'm also hoping to see a bunch of my friends from the old (original Delcam) forum here.
My name is Brady Watson, and I am a production consultant. I am mostly well known for 3D laser scanning, metrology, and CNC routing in some circles. I started out using ArtCAM 20 years ago. I'd almost forgotten how fun this software can be when you allow yourself to play a little :)

Hi All,
Please join me in welcoming David and Dan! It's great that such talented people are part of this company and you can all confidently look forward to enjoying the fruits of their development labour in the future.
Welcome Dave and Dan, it's good to see when previous engineers return to the fold.
look forward to hearing more from you as Carveco progresses.
Gary
Welcome looking forward to hearing more from you
Hi All,
I should have written in here a long, long time ago, but it's been an incredibly busy year, with many of us getting the company setup and the infrastructure in place behind the scenes.
I'm so glad this product line can continue to grow - I've been working on this for almost my entire working life having joined in 1998 shortly after the release of ArtCAM 3! After working on it for many years I eventually took over managing the Development Team from 2010 - 2016. Many changes happened under Autodesk, including the product facing End-of-Life, but we were able to successfully negotiate to continue its life under a new brand back in 2018. Subsequently, the product was stripped-down, cleaned-up and rebuilt ready for release in March 2019. A happy day and a significant milestone for all of us to finally reach!
It's great to be working again with so many talented people from the original Development, Sales, Support and Marketing teams - we're all very different, but have worked together for years and know each other very well, with the greatest debates typically raging around where we're going to eat or what colour a new feature button should be.
In terms of our software, we're now operating on a much more regular release schedule, with work and fixes made available as soon as they have been through development and testing. You can see the history in the Release Notes on our website. I'm particularly pleased with the software's new ability to load all of the legacy files that previously required a dongle to open. This was one of the most common problems we would hear from customers which has now been resolved.
When I'm not doing work, I love spending time with my wife and family, cooking everything from scratch (especially Cornish Pasties), marvelling at DNA, walking the dog, and occasionally getting my skateboard out and wondering where all the time went.
I'm excited about the future ahead of us; we have a lot of interesting things to do with Carveco, but none of it is possible without all of you - so thank you for your continued feedback in this community!
Tim
Good to hear from you Tim, we all appreciate what you have accomplished so far and look forward to what will be coming down the pipe in terms of new features etc. That you have managed to save AC from the scrap heap is simply wonderful. Thank you for that and thanks in advance for what is to come next.
Thank you Barry, I wasn't sure if I would be remembered! It really is a team effort here, including working out the best way to save this product and getting everything set up. It's been hard work at times, but very satisfying for all of us to work on something we believe in!
Tim, I think Barry pretty much covered it. It was definitely a relief when I heard that you guys were back at the helm and re-vamping AC. I look forward to working with you again as a reseller, support/trainer for the Carveco Product.
Reading you note above made my mouth water !! being raised on Aussie pies and pasties got the saliva glands working. These are just two things that you don't get here in the USA. There are some knock offs but just not the same. Now you've really got me going, real fish & chips, dim sims, chicko rolls..............Ah!
Gary
Gary, I'm sure it won’t help if I tell you that for my friends 40th birthday, I booked us both in for an afternoon to train under a twice Cornish Pasty champion down in Cornwall. All I’ll say is our handmade late lunch was amazing and my friend and I keep trying to out do each other by occasionally making extremely large pasties for each other’s birthdays. You can feed an entire family on one! I’ve not tried Aussie pies yet, but I’ve heard they are amazing!
You know, being Cornish and living in the USA you're not nice to rub that in, but would you share the name and address? I would like to book my partner in hopefully when we come over next. On top of that, I can't remember 40..lol..
Tim, that would be a blast spending and afternoon with a Cornish Pasty Champ.
Vivian, I'm Australian, lived here in the US for 36 years now. The Cornish miners that migrated to Australia back in the 1800's introduced the Cornish Pasty, then as a kid growing up it became one of the many, lets say delicacy's you got on the school lunch menu or the corner milk bar, when hanging out.
Gary
Vivian, I'll look it up - it was in a small Cornish Coastal village in a room above a pub. The pub had an incredibly strong beer called Archie's Revenge if I remember rightly. I also have the recipe burned into my memory too...
I think we appear to have railroaded this Introduce Yourself topic into a Cornish Pasty Appreciation Society! :')
Hi Vivian, we did it through Aggie Arts I think, http://www.cornwall-arts-and-crafts.co.uk/pages/aggie-arts/index.php, but I can’t see the course on there so I don’t know if they still do it.
This video isn’t far off what I learnt, except only use white pepper and don’t be shy with it. Add an egg to the pastry mix, and add some butter cubes to the internal mixture to create a richer internal gravy. Plus you can also add clotted cream for the same reason. https://m.facebook.com/watch/?v=2164596373633645&_rdr
Hi Everybody,
I'm also very happy to hear that Carveco was released. I've been working with ArtCAM since version 7, later also as a Delcam and Autodesk employee. Right now I have my own carving company doing wooden reliefs, corbels, sculptures and machining 3D models out of MDF, aluminium and PU resin boards. Over the years I learned and worked with different CAD/CAM packages but ArtCAM is hands down my favorite because of the creative freedom it gives. I'm glad that Carveco will continue and improve on that!
Cheers!

Hello All
Im Marc Alonso a jeweler and strted with ARTCAM in 2006 so glad to see this software have life again.
Hi ya Marc.
mike
I see it's been a year since anyone posted here so I figured why not.
I'm Bill Keays. I've been a Artcam user since about 2010, I had the chance but didn't know it at the time to be trained by a very experienced user based here in Atlantic Canada. Unfortunately I've lost alot of that skill due to the pure lack of use. Being in the sign industry and in the market we were in all the 3d design skills have mostly left. But I can cut some wicked nice 2d profiles!
Glad Carveco is keeping strong
Hey y'all. I am Scotty. Like the one from Star Trek. Super new to the CNC. Have produced a couple models so far, still not there in terms of quality, but getting there.
Welcome Bill and Scotty, good to have you here.
its great to have you all here post as often as you can. we all like seen what you guys do
cheers
Hi,
I'm Jason, based in Hertford, UK.
I've a fair bit of background in 3D printing and picked up a cheap 3018pro last year.
Until recently I've been using a 10W laser for marking and some minimal engraving for PCB isolation.
I've since then enlarged the machine to a 3040 size, but still have the stock 24V spindle motor.
My 1st cut was using Easel, some basic design errors on my part but the actual cut quality was acceptable to me.
I found out about Carveco from a YouTube video and currently signed up for the CarvcoMaker package a few hours ago.
It looks pretty good, but I need to spend a lot more time on the software!
Welcome Jason, good to have you onboard.
Hi,
Well, I too am an ex Delcam employee, I was in application support. However I left in '93 to pursue a different career path. Artcam was still in development at this time.
Now semi-retired I built the MPCNC so I looked to where I knew so I am learning Fusion360 (DUCT long since dead I believe) and Carveco.
Currently making a lot of sawdust.
Always good to have an other Michael.
You get the full version or one of the step downs, or are you leasing the booger?
Welcome aboard.
mike
I am just running Maker, would like plus for the shape editor, but I am just a poor pensioner re-living the past :-)
Mick
Hahahaha, I like living in parts of my past, some are rather scary (those I like to avoid).
I need the whole shebang, don't think I could step down to a lower verity, I'd be lost, I've been spoiled.

Hello Everyone,
Reed Smith here. Brand new to Carveco May2023 and still a bit new to CNC in general. I use a Shapeoko 5Pro 4x4 and just switched to Maker from Carbide Create.
I'm a woodworker too and I'm not retired. Spend my main hours selling internet security to large enterprises...working for tech company. This is my downtime fun and a bit of a side hustle. I live in a small town south of Raleigh, NC and love my life here. Other interests are golfing and watching pro baseball and football.
looking forward to learning from you all and pitching it to help when I can.
Cheers!
Welcome to the Carveco family, Reedlabs ! We hope it's an enjoyable time for you.
Hello all.
I started using ArtCAM in 1996, so I'm guessing that would be version 1 or 2!
When ArtCAM was discontinued my company looked into other options but we didn't find anything that could replace the versatility of ArtCAM. I am thrilled to be finally using Carveco and having all the perks of actively developed software, customer support, and a community to discuss things with.
I have been a designer for a private mint in the eastern USA for 27 years. I was happily surprised the first time I called customer support and Dillon Moulder answered the call! I am pleased with the new features and look forward to working with Carveco for the forseeable future.
I was wondering if there was forum everyone uses. I really loved the ArtCAM forum back when they were with Delcam.
I'm excited to see what Carveco does next!
Hi Everyone!
